UAE Records Highest May Temperature Since 2003
ABU DHABI – The United Arab Emirates recorded its highest temperature for the month of May since 2003, reaching a scorching 50.4°C, the National Center of Meteorology (NCM) confirmed on Friday.
“The highest temperature recorded over the country today is **50.4°C in Al Shawamekh (Abu Dhabi) at 14:30 UAE local time,” the NCM stated in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
Speaking to AFP, the NCM added, “This is the highest temperature we’ve ever recorded (for May) since we started keeping records in 2003.”
The previous May record of 50.2°C, documented in 2009, has now been surpassed, highlighting the intensifying heat conditions in the region.
