Multan Sultans Secure First Win in PSL 2025 with Thrilling 33-Run Victory Over Lahore Qalandars
MULTAN – A change of scenery proved to be the turning point for Multan Sultans, who secured their first win in PSL 2025 with a commanding 33-run victory over Lahore Qalandars in Multan.
Sultans’ Vital Win
After three consecutive losses, Muhammad Rizwan’s side had little margin for error and delivered when it mattered most. In what was an action-packed match filled with power-hitting and thrilling moments, the Sultans emerged victorious in a high-scoring encounter.
Chasing a formidable target of 229, Lahore Qalandars faltered under pressure. Despite a brilliant unbeaten 50 from Sikandar Raza* and a quickfire 43 from Sam Billings, the Qalandars finished on 195/9, falling short of the target. Multan’s bowlers held their composure during the middle overs, sealing a crucial win.

Explosive Top Order from Multan
Multan Sultans’ top order came out in full force, led by a blistering 87 off 44 balls from opener Yasir Khan, who dominated the Lahore bowling attack with six powerful sixes. Mohammad Rizwan contributed a quick 32 off 17, and Iftikhar Ahmed’s late cameo of 40 off 18 balls* powered the Sultans to an imposing 228/5.
Lahore’s Bowling Struggles
For Lahore Qalandars, their bowling attack failed to deliver once again. Haris Rauf went wicketless and conceded 54 runs in three overs, while Zaman Khan was smashed for 22 runs in just one over. The only bowler offering some control was Asif Afridi, who picked up 1/26.
Lahore’s Response Falters
In response, Lahore Qalandars got off to a quick start with Fakhar Zaman smashing 32 off 14 balls, but the chase began to unravel when Ubaid Shah and Michael Bracewell struck at crucial moments, removing key wickets. Despite brief resistance from Billings and Raza, the required rate continued to climb, and the Sultans’ disciplined bowling attack ensured that Lahore never regained the momentum.
Ubaid Shah impressed with figures of 3 for 37, while Usama Mir contributed with 2 for 26, playing key roles in the middle overs to halt Lahore’s chase.
