Higher-grade positions have also been affected: two posts each in Grades 21 and 22 have been abolished, along with 36 in Grade 20 and 99 in Grade 19. Another 71 Grade 19 jobs are slated for removal in the future.

In Grade 18, 203 positions have been abolished, with 36 more expected to be removed. Additionally, 760 positions in Grade 17 have been cut, with another 58 planned.

The committee was informed that these reductions have already saved Rs. 30 billion for the national exchequer, with further savings anticipated as more cuts are made.

The government has also decided to end the “son quota,” a policy that previously allowed a family member of a government employee who died in service to secure a job. The Establishment Division has instructed all ministries and divisions to enforce the revised policy.
