The Foreign Office of Pakistan has dismissed recent social media claims concerning the UN Human Rights Council’s resolution on Palestine, calling them misleading and based on inaccurate media reports.
Addressing the issue on Tuesday, Foreign Office Spokesperson Shafqat Ali clarified that the posts reflected a misunderstanding of the resolution’s adoption process.

He explained that the resolution was part of an annual joint initiative by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) group in Geneva, specifically focused on addressing Israeli violations and ensuring accountability in the occupied Palestinian territories.
Pakistan’s Role as OIC Coordinator
Shafqat Ali confirmed that Pakistan, acting as the OIC coordinator, formally presented the resolution, but did not make any unilateral changes to its text. He emphasized that all amendments and the final draft were approved collectively by the OIC group, in close coordination with the Palestinian delegation, which also expressed full satisfaction with the resolution’s content.
He reiterated that Pakistan did not recognize Israel and, therefore, does not participate in multilateral forums alongside it. Any claim suggesting Pakistan accommodated Israeli interests or priorities in the resolution was described as completely baseless.
Commitment to Palestine
The Foreign Office reaffirmed that all resolutions regarding occupied Palestinian territories in the Human Rights Council are shaped by the priorities and guidance of Palestine. Pakistan remains steadfast in its support for the Palestinian cause and continues to oppose Israeli occupation and violations of international law.
