Pakistan’s cricket team has been left to reflect on a disappointing 3-0 loss in their recent ODI series against New Zealand. Despite Babar Azam’s solid performance, including two half-centuries, the team failed to clinch key moments, allowing New Zealand to dominate in all areas of the game.
Captain Mohammad Rizwan addressed the setback after the final match, expressing his disappointment but acknowledging New Zealand’s superiority. “They played well in both Asian and local conditions. We lost the key moments, and it’s tough to digest,” Rizwan said. However, he emphasized that the team would not dwell on the loss and instead shift focus to the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10.

The third ODI saw Pakistan’s chase falter despite efforts from Abdullah Shafique and Babar Azam. Rain affected the match, and injuries, including Imam-ul-Haq’s, further hindered Pakistan’s performance. Rizwan and Agha Salman’s attempts to stabilize the innings were not enough to push the team to victory, with Pakistan eventually falling short by 43 runs.
As the team moves on from the series, Rizwan hopes the PSL will provide a fresh start and bring some joy to the fans. “We will leave the past behind and look forward to PSL, where we can give our supporters something to cheer about,” he stated, marking the transition from international disappointment to the excitement of domestic cricket.
