Renowned Pakistani actress Bushra Ansari recently expressed her concerns about the impact of Ramadan TV transmissions, saying they have shifted people’s focus from worship and spiritual reflection to entertainment. In a vlog shared on her YouTube channel, she shared candid thoughts during an Iftar event, criticizing the rise of Ramadan shows for distracting viewers from their religious obligations.
Ansari highlighted that in the past, there were fewer such programs, and people engaged more in prayers, Quranic recitation, and spiritual practices during Ramadan. She added that today’s viewers are more inclined to watch these shows, which she believes may lead to a decline in devotion.

“Back then, fasting was fasting, not just hunger,” she said, emphasizing the difference between fasting with worship and fasting without it. According to Ansari, the current trend of watching transmissions without engaging in prayer or Quranic recitation makes fasting feel like mere hunger.
Last month, Ansari was honoured with the Award of Recognition at the UK Parliament for her contributions to entertainment and social advocacy. During the ceremony, she praised Pakistani dramas for promoting the country’s rich culture and language globally.
