Balochistan Hosts Grand Sports Festival to Celebrate Pakistan Day
A grand sports festival was held across Balochistan to commemorate Pakistan Day, featuring an array of exciting competitions.
Sports Events and Venues
Organized by the Sports Department of the Government of Balochistan, the festival included futsal, wushu, and basketball tournaments, attracting enthusiastic participation.

- Futsal Tournament:
- Hosted at QDA Ground, Satellite Town, Quetta
- Mir Liaqat Ali Lehri, Parliamentary Secretary and member of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), officiated the opening ceremony.
- The tournament will continue until March 22.
- Basketball Tournament:
- Held at the Pakistan Sports Board Quetta Centre.
- Inaugurated by Sher Muhammad Tareen, General Secretary of the Balochistan Olympic Association.
- Featured participation from six teams from Quetta.
- Wushu Competition:
- Took place at Ayub Sports Complex’s Martial Arts Gymnasium.
- 35 players from Quetta, competing in seven weight categories, showcased their skills.

During his speech at the event, Mir Liaqat Ali Lehri praised the initiative, saying:
“Celebrating Pakistan Day through sports is truly encouraging. The government is committed to promoting sports and providing opportunities for athletes.”
He also highlighted the significant turnout of spectators despite security challenges, emphasizing the importance of sports in keeping youth engaged and away from negative influences.
“We will encourage our youth to take up sports to protect them from the curse of drugs and to help them bring glory to their province and country,” he added.
