The Trump administration has drafted a proposal to restrict U.S. visa policy for citizens of multiple countries, with Pakistan listed in the “orange” category

Under this classification, Pakistanis would face strict visa limitations, permitting only wealthy business travelers while barring immigrant and tourist visa applicants. Additionally, Pakistani citizens would be required to attend in-person interviews to secure a visa.

The proposal, part of a broader travel ban framework, divides countries into three tiers—red, orange, and yellow. The “red” list faces a complete entry ban, while the “orange” tier, which includes Pakistan, imposes severe visa restrictions. The “yellow” list consists of countries given 60 days to address U.S. security concerns.

This policy stems from a January 20 executive order by President Trump, directing the State Department to enhance vetting measures for travelers from selected nations.
