Federal Minister for Law and Justice, Azam Nazeer Tarar, announced that significant changes to Pakistan’s Central Superior Services (CSS) examination system are expected next year. The reforms aim to provide a more equitable system as the government moves toward educational and administrative reforms across the country.
During a Senate session, Tarar pointed out the increasing number of students opting for the Cambridge education system in Pakistan and emphasized the need for a standardized exam structure. He stated that a high-level committee, led by Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal, has been reviewing the CSS exam framework to ensure fairness for all candidates.

The CSS examination has long been criticized for favoring certain educational backgrounds, putting others at a disadvantage. The reforms aim to address these concerns by introducing an inclusive system that accommodates candidates from diverse academic fields. The final recommendations from the committee are expected soon.
While details of the upcoming changes remain under discussion, the new CSS exam framework could be implemented as early as 2026, modernizing the recruitment process for Pakistan’s civil services.
