Saudi Arabia Reaffirms Support for Palestine at Arab League Summit

Saudi Arabia has once again reaffirmed its commitment to the Palestinian cause, with Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan emphasizing the Kingdom’s steadfast stance against violations of Palestinian rights during an Arab League Summit in Cairo. The extraordinary summit was held to counter US President Donald Trump’s controversial Gaza reconstruction plan and to address the ongoing humanitarian crisis in the region.

Prince Faisal strongly condemned the displacement of Palestinians, the expansion of illegal settlements, and the annexation of Palestinian territories. He called on the global community to come together in support of Gaza’s reconstruction, stressing that the immense suffering endured by Palestinians demands an immediate international response to rebuild infrastructure and restore dignity.

“The unprecedented suffering of the Palestinian people in Gaza requires an immediate and collective international response to restore normalcy, rebuild infrastructure, and ensure that Palestinians live in dignity without any attempts to alter the demographic and territorial realities,” Prince Faisal stated. He also reiterated Saudi Arabia’s continued support for the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) in managing Gaza’s reconstruction and delivering humanitarian aid.

At the summit, Arab leaders endorsed an Egyptian-led initiative for Gaza’s reconstruction, valued at $53 billion. This plan, in contrast to President Trump’s “Middle East Riviera” proposal, focuses on restoring essential services and rebuilding infrastructure while rejecting any forced displacement of Palestinians. Leaders also proposed the establishment of a trust fund to accelerate reconstruction efforts and called for international support to ensure timely execution.

In a unified stance, the final communique of the summit condemned Israel’s decision to block humanitarian aid and close border crossings crucial for relief efforts. The summit concluded with a call for the deployment of an international protection and peacekeeping force in Palestinian territories to safeguard civilians and maintain stability, reiterating the importance of achieving a just and comprehensive peace that respects Palestinian rights.

This summit marks a critical moment in regional diplomacy, as Arab nations come together to protect Palestinian interests and push back against alternative reconstruction plans that undermine the rights and future of the Palestinian people.
