Aleem Khan Orders Fast-Track Work on M5 Motorway

Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan on Wednesday directed officials to accelerate ongoing development work on the Jalalpur Pirwala section of the M5 Motorway, stressing the need to provide travellers with modern, high-quality facilities.

During his visit, the minister reviewed various infrastructure projects and instructed authorities to complete all pending work, including the early construction of a mosque at the motorway service area. He emphasized that development activities should be finalized without unnecessary delays to improve the travel experience for commuters.

Accompanied by the Secretary for Communications and the Chairman of the National Highway Authority (NHA), Aleem Khan inspected the motorway’s service and rest areas. The delegation reviewed newly built washrooms, kitchen facilities, cleanliness arrangements, and other amenities designed to enhance passenger comfort.

The minister directed officials to maintain continuous monitoring of motorway services and ensure that facilities meet modern standards. He said travellers should have access to safe, clean, and world-class amenities while using the national motorway network.

“Passengers should be provided with the best and world-class facilities in the rest areas,” Aleem Khan said during the inspection.

He also instructed the NHA to complete the mosque under construction on an urgent basis, noting that it would provide an important facility for motorists and passengers traveling on the M5 Motorway.

Highlighting the importance of service quality, the communications minister said there would be no compromise on the standards of food and beverages available at motorway service areas. He directed operators to ensure hygiene, quality, and customer satisfaction at all times.

Aleem Khan reiterated the government’s commitment to upgrading Pakistan’s motorway infrastructure and improving services for road users. He said continuous investment in modern facilities, better maintenance, and efficient management would help make the country’s highways safer, cleaner, and more comfortable for both domestic and commercial traffic.

The M5 Motorway is a key component of Pakistan’s national highway network, connecting major cities and facilitating the movement of passengers and goods across the country. Officials said ongoing development work aims to further improve travel convenience and service quality along the route.
