A ruling issued on Thursday (Ruling 1973 of 2025) noted that the customs values for these goods had not been updated since 2017. Consequently, following an analysis of import data, current market trends, and discrepancies between market prices and previous customs values, an exercise was initiated under sections 25 and 25A of the Customs Act 1969 to determine new customs values.
The meeting to establish these values was attended by relevant stakeholders, and some importers requested that their brands, which have been imported over time, be included in the valuation process, as the original ruling was based on a brand-specific approach.
