Ministry of Interior Seals Pattan NGO Office Over Alleged Illegal Operations

The Ministry of Interior has sealed the office of Pattan, a non-governmental organization (NGO) that had been monitoring elections, in compliance with its directives.

According to ministry sources, Pattan was officially dissolved in June 2019, a decision that remained unchallenged in any forum. However, the organization continued its activities despite dissolution, prompting authorities to take action.

Officials stated that the police and district administration carried out the sealing following an order from the industrial development officer.

Under the law, dissolved organizations cannot continue operations, making the enforcement of the ministry’s directive necessary.

Legal Perspective

No official statement from Pattan has been made public yet.

Legal experts suggest that if the organization disputes the action, it has the right to approach the court for redress.
