Outgoing Islamabad Police chief Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi has approved promotions for 125 officers and personnel. The decision came shortly before his departure from the post.
The Islamabad Police said the promotions cover several ranks within the department. Officials were promoted based on merit, performance and their service records.
According to a police spokesperson, 12 Sub-Inspectors have been promoted to Inspectors. Nine Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASIs) have also received promotions.
The nine ASIs have been promoted to the rank of Sub-Inspectors. Meanwhile, 105 Head Constables have moved up to the rank of Assistant Sub-Inspectors.
The department has issued formal notifications for all the promotions. The new ranks will allow the promoted personnel to take on greater responsibilities.
The Islamabad Police said merit played an important role in the promotion process. Officials were assessed according to their performance and professional records.
Rizvi congratulated the officers and personnel who received the promotions. He also placed the new ranks on some of the promoted officials.

The latest promotions include personnel from different levels of the police hierarchy. They cover both officers and lower-ranking personnel serving in the department.
The largest group consists of 105 Head Constables promoted to Assistant Sub-Inspectors. This promotion will give them additional responsibilities within the police force.
The promotion of 12 Sub-Inspectors to Inspectors will also strengthen the department’s senior ranks. Nine ASIs have moved into the Sub-Inspector position.

The decision comes as Rizvi prepares to leave his position as Islamabad Police chief. Captain (Retd) Sohail Chaudhry is expected to replace him as IG Islamabad.
Rizvi’s final days in the position included approval of the latest promotion process. He also met some of the promoted personnel during the rank-pinning ceremony.
