Pakistan, Turkiye Strengthen Ties with Multiple Agreements Across Various Sectors

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan and Turkiye exchanged signed documents for several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs), protocols, and cooperation agreements on Thursday, aimed at enhancing bilateral ties during Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s visit to Pakistan.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Erdogan oversaw the exchange of agreements, including a joint declaration from the 7th High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council (HLSCC) meeting to deepen their strategic partnership.

Key Agreements Signed:

  • Finance & Trade: Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb and Turkish Trade Minister Omer Bolat exchanged MoUs between the Export Credit Bank of Turkiye and the Export-Import Bank of Pakistan. Other agreements focused on trade verification and digitalizing origin certificates.
  • Industrial & Defence Cooperation: Defence Minister Khawaja Asif and Turkish Defence Minister Yasar Guler exchanged MoUs on personnel exchange, electronic warfare, and defence production. Another agreement was signed between Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) and Pakistan’s Naval Research and Development Institute (NRDI).
  • Science, Technology & Energy: MoUs were signed for halal trade, legal metrology infrastructure, and energy cooperation, including hydrocarbons, energy transition, and mining.
  • Food Security & Agriculture: Agreements covered seed protocol amendments, water cooperation, and agricultural research.
  • Public Relations & Cultural Exchange: MoUs were signed for cooperation in public relations, religious education, and cultural exchanges, including agreements on co-production in audio-visual services.
  • Health & Pharmaceuticals: Agreements included technical cooperation in healthcare and pharmaceuticals.

Additionally, two MoUs were signed at the Pakistan-Turkiye Business Forum, further expanding economic collaboration.
