Samsung faces criticism over S Pen downgrade in the Galaxy S25 Ultra

Samsung’s newest flagship, the Galaxy S25 Ultra, introduces major upgrades, including the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and a redesigned frame.

However, one controversial change has disappointed fans—the removal of Bluetooth connectivity from the S Pen.

Why Are Users Frustrated?

Without Bluetooth support, the S Pen no longer offers Air Actions, meaning users can no longer:

  • Remotely control the camera
  • Navigate presentations and apps
  • Manage media playback through gestures

This decision has sparked backlash among dedicated Note and Ultra series users, with many calling for the feature’s return.

Petition Demands Bluetooth S Pen Comeback

Tech reviewer Jeff Springer launched a petition urging Samsung to reconsider. The petition has already gained over 600 signatures, with users voicing their frustration.

“To uphold its reputation for innovation and customer satisfaction, we urge Samsung to reinstate Bluetooth functionality in the Galaxy S26 Ultra,” the petition states.

Why Did Samsung Remove Bluetooth?

While Samsung has yet to provide an official explanation, speculation points to several reasons:

  • Battery Efficiency – Removing Bluetooth may help extend battery life.
  • Durability Improvements – A simplified S Pen could be more reliable.
  • Cost Reduction – Bluetooth requires extra components, including a battery and charging coil.

Despite these reasons, users argue that at $1,299, a premium flagship shouldn’t lack essential features. Many now feel the S Pen has been downgraded to a basic stylus rather than a productivity tool.

While Samsung has a track record of responding to customer feedback, the S25 Ultra is already in production, making an immediate change unlikely.

For now, users who depend on Bluetooth-enabled S Pen features will have to adjust or wait to see if Samsung restores the feature in the S26 Ultra next year.
