Elementary School Teacher in South Korea Fatally Stabs Eight-Year-Old Girl

In a tragic incident that has stunned South Korea, an elementary school teacher fatally stabbed an eight-year-old girl at a school in the city of Daejeon, officials confirmed on Tuesday. The female teacher, in her 40s, confessed to the attack, which occurred on Monday evening.

The young girl was discovered with stab wounds on the second floor of the school and was later pronounced dead at the hospital. The teacher, who was found injured nearby, is believed to have inflicted the wounds on herself. She is currently hospitalized and will be questioned by authorities once she recovers from surgery.

South Korea’s acting president, Choi Sang-mok, has expressed his deep condolences to the victim’s family and ordered an investigation into the tragic incident. He also called for immediate steps to prevent such attacks in the future, stressing that schools should be safe spaces for all.

The teacher had previously requested leave due to depression but had returned to work after a brief absence. Prior to the attack, she exhibited erratic behavior, including violent actions towards a fellow teacher, which had raised concerns among school officials.

The school was closed on Tuesday as the community mourned the loss, with flowers and stuffed toys left at the entrance in memory of the young victim.
