In a significant move towards promoting green energy and sustainable mobility, Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon met with representatives from a Chinese electric vehicle (EV) bus manufacturer in Beijing on Wednesday. The meeting focused on inviting the company to establish an EV bus manufacturing plant in Karachi. The session was also attended by Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, Sindh’s Minister for Energy, Planning, and Development, who pledged full support from the provincial government for the project.
Minister Memon emphasized the Sindh government’s commitment to modernizing public transport and reducing carbon emissions. He assured the Chinese company that the government would offer various incentives, such as tax exemptions, land availability, and a simplified regulatory approval process, to facilitate the establishment of the plant. The minister also highlighted the job opportunities the project would generate and the importance of shifting towards an eco-friendly transportation system.

The Chinese company representatives expressed interest in the proposal and showed enthusiasm for exploring investment opportunities in Karachi. They also welcomed the Sindh government’s support and cooperation, which is essential for the success of such an ambitious initiative.
A feasibility study will be conducted in the coming weeks to evaluate the economic and technical viability of the project. Both parties have expressed confidence that the partnership will contribute significantly to the green energy and electric mobility sectors.
