Punjab to Cut Thousands of Teaching and Non-Teaching Jobs

The Punjab School Education Department has decided to eliminate thousands of vacant positions across schools in the province. The department has requested data on both teaching and non-teaching vacancies that have remained unfilled for the past two years.

A recent directive outlines that vacant positions from Grade 5 to Grade 16 will be removed across all schools. A letter has been sent to District Education Authorities, instructing them to submit records of these unfilled posts.

This decision follows a previous move by the department to eliminate over 50,000 teaching positions. Despite this, many teaching and non-teaching positions remain vacant in schools across Punjab.

The goal of this move is to streamline staffing and ensure more effective allocation of resources in the education sector, improving the overall functioning of schools in the province.
