Trump Warns Iran of Total Destruction Over Assassination Plot
In a strong message to Tehran, former U.S. President Donald Trump warned that Iran would be completely destroyed if it attempted to assassinate him.
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Trump stated that he had instructed his advisers to wipe out the Iranian regime should such an attack occur.
“If they tried that, they would be obliterated,” he said while signing an executive order designed to ramp up U.S. pressure on Iran. “There would be nothing left.”

His warning comes amid longstanding concerns within federal agencies regarding Iranian threats against Trump and other senior figures from his administration.
Trump had previously ordered the 2020 drone strike that killed Qassem Soleimani, the commander of the Quds Force within Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps.
Intelligence reports suggest Iranian officials have plotted attacks against Trump, including an unsuccessful assassination attempt before the 2020 election. The Justice Department disclosed in November that Iranian operatives had sought to enlist a criminal network to track and eliminate the former president.
One suspected operative, Farhad Shakeri, remains at large in Iran. The Iranian government, however, has denied the allegations, calling them a fabricated effort to undermine U.S.-Iran relations.
For years, U.S. authorities have monitored potential Iranian plots. A security threat from Tehran prompted heightened protection around Trump before a Pennsylvania rally in July, where he was reportedly injured in an assassination attempt. However, no direct ties to Iran were established in that incident.
Additionally, Trump recently withdrew security protection for former U.S. officials Mike Pompeo, Brian Hook, and John Bolton. Like Trump, they have taken a tough stance on Iran and have been targeted by Iranian threats due to their policies during his presidency.
