Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir emphasized the dismantling of militant proxy networks targeting armed forces in Balochistan, according to ISPR.
During his visit to the region, following the martyrdom of 18 soldiers, General Munir was briefed on security matters and pledged to eliminate threats undermining the state, referring to such actors as “frenemies.”

In Quetta, he received updates from senior military and intelligence officials on the security situation, vowing that Pakistan’s armed forces would hold those acting as proxies for foreign elements accountable. He assured decisive action against militants to safeguard the nation and lauded the bravery of military, paramilitary, and law enforcement personnel combating terrorism.
The COAS reaffirmed the military’s support for the provincial government in fostering peace, stability, and development in Balochistan.
Accompanied by Balochistan’s governor and chief minister, General Munir offered prayers for the fallen soldiers and visited the injured at the Combined Military Hospital in Quetta, commending their dedication to defending Pakistan.
The surge in terrorist attacks, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, has made 2024 the deadliest year for Pakistan’s security forces in a decade.
