Australia all-rounder Mitchell Marsh has been ruled out of the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 due to persistent lower back pain, Cricket Australia (CA) confirmed in a statement.
The injury, which worsened recently, prompted the National Selection Panel to prioritize long-term rehabilitation for Marsh. He will undergo an extended recovery period, with a replacement to be announced before the February 12 squad deadline.

With ODI and Test captain Pat Cummins managing an ankle injury and personal commitments, Marsh was a potential skipper. Steve Smith or Travis Head may now step into the ODI captaincy role.
Cummins’ participation remains uncertain, leaving Australia with significant leadership challenges ahead of the tournament.
