PIA Marks Historic First International Flight from Gwadar

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has achieved a significant milestone with the successful operation of its first international flight from the newly inaugurated Gwadar International Airport to Muscat. The inaugural flight, PK-197, departed on schedule, carrying 39 passengers, as reported by Express News. This flight marks the official launch of international operations from the state-of-the-art airport.

PIA plans to operate a weekly flight between Gwadar and Muscat to meet the rising demand for travel and enhance regional connectivity. The move is seen as a step forward in expanding the airline’s international network and catering to growing passenger needs. PIA officials were present at the Gwadar airport to bid farewell to passengers and reaffirm the national carrier’s commitment to fulfilling national aspirations.

The new Gwadar International Airport, which became operational last week, symbolizes a new chapter in Pakistan’s aviation history. The airport, which spans 4,300 acres, is the largest in the country and plays a pivotal role in regional development. Its operationalization is hailed as a key achievement in strengthening Pakistan’s connectivity with Central Asia, East Asia, and the Middle East.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and other officials praised the inauguration, highlighting the airport as a symbol of the Pakistan-China friendship and an essential part of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti also welcomed the milestone, emphasizing its importance for the development and prosperity of Balochistan.
