Power Division Advocates for Free Electricity Benefits for Power Sector Employees
The Power Division has expressed its support for providing free electricity to employees of government-owned power sector entities, stating that this benefit is part of their employment terms and conditions. Alongside other perks like medical care and accommodation, free electricity is seen as a standard benefit for these employees.

- 441.5 million units of electricity are provided annually at no cost to 200,000 employees across both public and corporate sector entities.
- Of this total, 308.2 million units are allocated to current employees, while 133.2 million units are allocated to retired employees.
Beneficiaries:
- 149,000 employees from distribution companies (Discos) are among the major recipients of the free electricity, which is included as part of their service package.

In a recent response to the National Assembly, the Power Division highlighted that these benefits are also prevalent in other public and corporate sector organizations, including PIA, SNGPL, SSGC, Pakistan Railways, and PTCL.
