The Directorate of Private Institutions Sindh has fined Al-Fajr Academy Rs5 million for collecting unauthorized fees and has directed the school to reimburse parents for the excess amounts. This penalty comes after a complaint by Zohaib Yousufi, who accused the school of raising tuition fees without approval, demanding upfront payments, and charging arbitrary fees for stationery, supplies, and other activities.

Furthermore, Rafia Mallah, the Additional Director, issued a warning letter to the academy. The letter noted that a monitoring team visited the school on November 27, 2024, and discovered unauthorized fee collections. An inquiry committee, formed under Rule 18 of the Sindh Private Educational Institutions Rules 2005, confirmed these violations. The committee found that the school charged Rs35,000 per month in tuition fees, which was above the approved Rs28,150, and added extra fees for books, bags, field trips, and a “parent training fee.”
