Pakistan and Bangladesh Strengthen Bilateral Ties with Focus on Cooperation

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief Adviser of Bangladesh, Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, met on the sidelines of the D-8 Summit in Cairo to discuss expanding bilateral cooperation between the two nations. Both leaders emphasized the importance of aligning efforts to achieve mutual development objectives and agreed to deepen cooperation in areas of shared interest.

The discussion highlighted the significance of people-to-people contacts, cultural exchanges, and the enhancement of bilateral ties through various initiatives. Notable recent examples include the visit of the Bangladesh Cricket Team to Pakistan and a concert by a Pakistani artist in Dhaka. Both sides agreed to continue promoting such exchanges to foster goodwill between the two countries.

Prime Minister Sharif also underscored the historical, religious, and cultural linkages between Pakistan and Bangladesh, stressing the importance of strengthening ties in sectors like trade, IT, chemicals, and leather goods. Both leaders discussed new opportunities for economic cooperation and expressed satisfaction over recent positive developments, such as the relaxation of trade and travel restrictions between the two countries.

The cordial meeting reflected the enduring fraternal relations between Pakistan and Bangladesh, with both sides expressing a commitment to further enhancing cooperation at multilateral forums like the D-8.
