The Islamabad District and Sessions Court has extended the interim bail of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi until January 7, 2024, in the Toshakhana 2.0 case. The decision was made during a hearing held by Additional Sessions Judge Muhammad Afzal Mujoka, where junior lawyers represented the accused. The court was informed that senior counsel was unable to attend the hearing due to involvement in another case at Adiala Jail.

In the Toshakhana 2.0 case, Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi face allegations related to the illegal retention of a Bulgari jewelry set gifted to them during a visit to Saudi Arabia in May 2021. The jewelry, including a ring, bracelet, necklace, and earrings, was valued at approximately Rs75.7 million. However, the couple is accused of undervaluing the set, resulting in a loss of Rs32.9 million to the national treasury. The investigation has revealed that they failed to deposit the jewelry in the national treasury, as required by law, and violated various sections of the NAB Ordinance 1999.

The trial court had previously indicted the couple, with both Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi denying the allegations. The next hearing is scheduled for December 18, where the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) will present its first four witnesses out of 28 in the case.
