Earlier this year, his performance in A Different Man earned him the prestigious Silver Bear for Best Leading Performance at the Berlinale.
In an interview with Vanity Fair, Stan shared his surprise and joy over the recognition, describing the experience as “surreal.” He recounted, “I actually woke up in the middle of the night at 4:00 and thought, Oh, okay, there’s an hour and a half. I fell asleep again, and then I got a call from my publicist.” He added, “I’ve been sending a lot of pictures to my mom.”
In The Apprentice, directed by Ali Abbasi, Stan takes on the complex role of a young Donald Trump during the 1970s and 1980s, focusing on Trump’s ambitions to dominate New York’s real estate scene. The film delves into his rise to power and his relationship with Roy Cohn, a controversial lawyer.
If Stan wins, he would make history as the first Romanian actor to secure a Golden Globe, as reported by Culturaladuba.ro.
The 82nd Golden Globe Awards are scheduled for January 6, 2025, and Stan is also being touted as a strong contender for Oscar nominations later this awards season.
Born in Constanța, Romania, Stan holds dual Romanian and American citizenship, making this achievement a proud moment for both nations.
