Lahore Zoo Welcomes Seven New Lion Cubs

Lahore Safari Zoo has recently welcomed seven lion cubs into its family, as confirmed by the zoo’s director, Tanveer Ahmed Janjua. The cubs were born to three lionesses, with one lioness giving birth to three cubs and the other two lionesses each having two cubs. Among the new arrivals, two of the cubs are white lions, a rare and distinctive variation.

In addition to the lion cubs, the zoo has also recently seen the birth of three healthy Royal Bengal tiger cubs. All the cubs, including both the lions and tigers, are reportedly in good health. However, four of the lion cubs were rejected by their mothers, possibly due to perceived defects, and are now being hand-fed by zoo staff to ensure their survival.

With the birth of these cubs, the lion population at the zoo has increased from 22 to 29. Veterinary experts note that big cats sometimes reject their newborns for various reasons, including the instinct to care for only those cubs they deem healthy. As a result, some cubs require bottle-feeding, which the zoo is providing.

In another recent development, Karachi Zoo has welcomed three healthy lion cubs, born to a lioness, with the mother and cubs reported to be in good health. The cubs are expected to be displayed to the public once they reach eight weeks of age.

Additionally, the Karachi Zoo reported the death of a 30-year-old Bengal tigress, which passed away due to natural causes. Bengal tigers typically live 18-20 years, making the tigress’s age quite remarkable.
