US Issues Travel Warning for Citizens Visiting Northwestern Pakistan Amid Unrest

US Issues Travel Advisory for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Amid Rising Unrest

WASHINGTON – The US Mission in Pakistan has issued a travel alert advising US citizens and officials to avoid visiting Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) until mid-December, following an uptick in unrest and violence in the region.

The advisory highlights an increase in threats from terrorist and insurgent groups in KP, a volatile area located near Afghanistan. The US government has specifically cautioned nationals about the risks associated with staying in hotels near the Golf Club area during this period.

As part of a Level 4 ‘Do Not Travel’ warning, the US has emphasized the dangers of kidnapping, assassination, and attacks targeting polio vaccination teams in the region. The advisory stresses that US citizens take extra precautions, including staying informed through local media, carrying proper identification, and cooperating with local authorities.

The warning underscores the heightened risks for civilians, government officials, NGOs, and security forces in KP, especially those involved in sensitive operations such as the polio eradication campaign.
