Gandapur-Led PTI Convoy Yet to Cross Attock Bridge at Punjab-KP Border

The convoy from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, led by Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, en route to participate in the PTI protest in Islamabad, has been stalled at the Attock Bridge due to heavy police deployment and security measures. Tensions continue to rise ahead of the protest, with authorities taking steps to control the movement of the opposition supporters.

Key routes leading into the capital, including the Faizabad junction, which connects Islamabad and Rawalpindi, have been closed off by the authorities. This has significantly disrupted traffic, with only motorcyclists being allowed to pass through the Attock Bridge, while all other vehicles are being blocked. Additionally, the main access route into Islamabad via Faizabad has been sealed off with containers, making it difficult for people to travel.

The only route remaining to access Islamabad appears to be through IJP Road, which leads to the Faizabad Bridge, but it has also been congested with traffic. Despite the heavy restrictions, as noon approaches, PTI workers have yet to appear near Faizabad, leaving locals struggling to navigate the area and search for alternative routes.

The ongoing efforts by the authorities to block access to the capital highlight the government’s strategy to prevent the mass mobilization of opposition supporters ahead of the protest.
