LAHORE – Former Pakistani cricket captain Babar Azam has reached two significant milestones in T20 internationals during the first T20I against Australia in Brisbane, where Pakistan suffered a 29-run defeat in a rain-affected match reduced to seven overs per side.
Babar Azam’s achievements in this match include becoming the Pakistani cricketer with the most T20I appearances. With this being his 124th T20I match, he surpassed former captain Shoaib Malik, who had played 123 T20Is for Pakistan.

In addition to this, Babar also became the Pakistani cricketer with the most catches in T20 internationals. He took 2 catches in the match against Australia, bringing his total to 52 catches. Previously, the record was shared by Fakhar Zaman and Shoaib Malik, both of whom had 50 catches.
Babar Azam is also the leading run-scorer for Pakistan in T20 internationals. Despite his personal achievements, Pakistan was unable to chase down Australia’s total of 93-4 in the rain-shortened match, ending their innings at 63-9.
