Punjab Governor Declares Smog Emergency

Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan has called for an emergency declaration in the province due to escalating smog levels, which are causing significant public health issues. He emphasized that air pollution is now beyond control in most districts, with many individuals falling ill and requiring hospitalization.

Despite prior measures, such as closing schools, colleges, and amusement parks, the smog persists. Additionally, there has been resistance from traders against the early closure of markets at 8:00 PM. Governor Haider stated that pollution levels in Lahore and other parts of Punjab continue to rise.

In response to the crisis, the governor suggested implementing a temporary emergency to address the severe smog conditions and urged all relevant institutions to collaborate in tackling the situation effectively.
