Pakistan’s Muhammad Asif Clinches Third World Snooker Title

DOHA – Pakistani cueist Muhammad Asif clinched his third IBSF World Snooker Championship title in Doha, Qatar.

At 42, Asif entered as a wildcard qualifier and, after advancing through the qualifying rounds, showcased strong performances in the main and knockout stages to win the title.

In the final, Asif faced Iran’s Ali Gharagozloo. He took the lead in the first frame 70-25, but Gharagozloo leveled the match by winning the second frame 94-7. Asif regained control, winning the third frame 62-8 and dominating the fourth with a 106 clearance, his sixth century break in the tournament, to make it 3-1. He continued to build his lead, winning the fifth frame 82-12.

Although Gharagozloo fought back, winning the sixth and seventh frames, Asif sealed his victory in the eighth frame with a 93 break.

This marks Asif’s third individual World Championship title, adding to his earlier wins in 2012 and 2019, and his fifth world title overall.
