Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, along with 27 others, has been formally charged for their involvement in the violent attack on the Army General Headquarters (GHQ).
The indictment accuses them of orchestrating the assault, led by Raja Basharat, which included breaching GHQ gates, resisting military personnel, and causing significant damage using sticks, stones, and petrol bombs. The attack allegedly involved vandalizing military property, smashing windows, and tarnishing the Pakistan Army’s reputation, with anti-state slogans raised against the nation and armed forces.

The charges describe the incident as part of a broader conspiracy, with several individuals apprehended at the scene and others later. Meanwhile, Khan’s legal team has requested permission for him to communicate with his sons, meet his lawyers, and undergo a medical checkup, with the court’s decision pending.
Imran Khan, 72, has been imprisoned for over a year, maintaining that the charges are politically driven. Since his arrest in August 2023, he and other party leaders have faced over 200 cases, though Khan has been acquitted of some major charges but remains in jail despite bail in over two dozen cases.
