Massive Earthquake Shakes Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

A 5.9 magnitude earthquake struck Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday morning, causing widespread panic among residents. The tremors were felt in several cities, including Malakand, Upper Dir, Shangla, and Swat, as well as in nearby areas like Kohat, Parachinar, Hangu, and Orakzai districts. Fortunately, there were no immediate reports of casualties or significant damage.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department confirmed that the earthquake’s epicenter was located in Afghanistan’s Hindu Kush region, at a depth of 187 kilometers. The National Seismic Monitoring Centre in Islamabad recorded the quake’s magnitude at 5.7 on the Richter scale.

In Malakand, residents in Batkhela city and surrounding areas experienced strong tremors, prompting many to rush out of their homes and workplaces in fear. Similarly, intense shaking was reported across Shangla, Swat, and other regions.
