Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has approved a significant initiative aimed at supporting 3,000 women from underprivileged families through a collective marriage program. This decision was made during the 17th provincial cabinet meeting held in Lahore, which she chaired. Each bride participating in the program will receive Rs100,000 via ATM, along with essential items such as furniture, dresses, and dinner sets, providing both financial assistance and necessary household goods.
In addition to the marriage program, the cabinet meeting also addressed the introduction of an electric taxi system in Punjab. The Chief Minister was informed that 680 electric buses are expected to be operational by the end of the year, marking a crucial step towards promoting sustainable transportation in the province. This initiative reflects a commitment to modernizing the public transport system while also reducing environmental impact.
