PTI Launches New Series of Protests Across Punjab

PTI Announces Protests Across Punjab to Demand Imran Khan’s Release and Oppose Constitutional Amendments

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has scheduled a series of protests in major cities across Punjab from October 11 to 14, calling for the release of party founder Imran Khan and opposing proposed constitutional amendments.

The protests will kick off on October 11 in Multan and Sahiwal, followed by rallies in Gujranwala and Sargodha on October 12. PTI supporters are set to gather in Dera Ghazi Khan division on October 13, and the demonstrations will conclude on October 14 with large gatherings planned in Lahore and Faisalabad. Following these events, a nationwide protest is anticipated after October 14.

PTI Central Punjab President Hammad Azhar announced the protest schedule on X (formerly Twitter), encouraging public participation. He indicated that after the protests in Punjab, PTI aims to rally supporters from across Pakistan to converge on Islamabad for a massive demonstration, asserting, “The protest is aimed at safeguarding the sovereignty of the people.”

However, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has directed members of the National Assembly and Senate to refrain from participating in the protests, urging lawmakers to avoid political gatherings, meetings, and rallies during this period.

The protests reflect PTI’s growing concerns over Imran Khan’s continued imprisonment and proposed constitutional amendments, which the party claims threaten Pakistan’s democratic values.
