Punjab Plans to Enhance 30 Border Posts with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

As police control in the border regions between Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Punjab deteriorates, there has been a notable increase in terrorist incidents. In the past year, nine attacks have been recorded in the Sargodha and DG Khan areas, resulting in the deaths of two police officers and one civilian, with several others injured.

The Inspector General (IG) of Punjab has linked these incidents to inadequate infrastructure at border posts. In response to the escalating violence, a summary has been submitted to the Punjab Home Department recommending the upgrading of 30 border outposts in the affected regions of Sargodha and DG Khan.

The project, estimated to cost Rs52.71 million, has received approval from the Cabinet Committee. The Department of Construction and Communications has already conducted a survey, and a supplementary grant will be released to facilitate the necessary upgrades. These measures aim to enhance security and control in the border areas, addressing the root causes of the recent surge in terrorism.
