The Punjab government has approved Rs. 45.13 billion for three major health programs. The funds have been included in the non-development budget for 2026-27.
The approved amount will support healthcare and family planning initiatives across the province. The government will release the funds based on the performance of the relevant programs.
The largest allocation has been made for the Maryam Nawaz Health Clinics program. A total of Rs. 30.63 billion has been approved for its first three phases.
The allocation will support the development and operation of health clinics under the program. These facilities are intended to improve access to healthcare services across Punjab.
Another Rs. 10 billion has been allocated for Maryam Nawaz Rural Hospitals. The funding will be provided under a financial assistance model.
The rural hospital program is expected to support healthcare facilities serving communities outside major urban centers. The approved amount has now been included in the provincial budget.
The third allocation covers the Punjab Family Planning Program. The government has approved Rs. 4.50 billion for this initiative.
The funds will support family planning facilities and related healthcare services across the province. The allocation forms part of the current fiscal year’s non-development spending.
With the three allocations included in the budget, the process for releasing funds can move forward. However, the government will link releases to program performance.
The performance-based funding approach means departments will need to meet relevant requirements. Funding will be released according to the progress and performance of the programs.
The Punjab government has included all three initiatives in its financial planning for fiscal year 2026-27. The combined allocation reflects the government’s planned spending on these health services.
The Maryam Nawaz Health Clinics program received the largest share of the approved funding. Its allocation accounts for more than two-thirds of the total amount.
The rural hospitals initiative received the second-largest allocation among the three programs. The remaining amount has been assigned to family planning services.
The approved funds will cover health clinics, rural hospitals, and family planning facilities. These services are spread across different areas of Punjab.
The inclusion of the allocations in the current budget removes a key financial step. The concerned departments can now proceed with the required funding process.
The government has not indicated that the entire amount will be released at once. Instead, releases will depend on the performance of the respective programs.
The Punjab government’s decision covers three separate health initiatives under the 2026-27 budget. Together, they carry a total approved allocation of Rs. 45.13 billion.
The funding is part of the province’s non-development expenditure for the ongoing fiscal year. It is intended to support the functioning and expansion of the specified healthcare programs.
The allocations also provide financial support for family planning services. This includes facilities and programs operating across the province.
