The Sindh government has announced new, strict measures to tackle drug use in educational institutions, including conducting drug tests for students. To enhance intelligence sharing and coordination on drug-related issues across provinces and with federal agencies, the provincial government will establish a Fusion Center. This center will connect all relevant agencies to improve the fight against drug use and trafficking.
In addition, the Sindh government plans to collaborate with the Health Department to establish rehabilitation centers for individuals struggling with addiction.

This initiative was discussed in the second meeting of the committee tasked with combating drug use, which took place in Karachi and was chaired by Sindh’s Senior Minister, Sharjeel Inam Memon. Key officials such as Secretary Excise Muhammad Saleem Rajput, Secretary Universities and Boards Abbas Baloch, Secretary Social Welfare Pervez Ahmed Syahr, and ANF Commander Brigadier Umar were present. UNODC officials Tom from Geneva and Sajid Aslam from Islamabad participated via video link.
