The All Sindh Private Schools and Colleges Association has asked the Sindh government to review the new school timings.
The association said the extended schedule is difficult to implement under current conditions. It urged authorities to consider practical challenges before enforcing the revised timetable.
Association Chairman Haider Ali made the request to Sindh Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah. He called for a schedule that reflects the ground realities faced by educational institutions.
According to Ali, several factors make longer school hours difficult to manage. These include high temperatures, lunch breaks, and prayer breaks.
He also mentioned madrassa timings as another important consideration. Many students and families have responsibilities outside their regular school schedules.
The chairman also highlighted household responsibilities among older students. Travel time for students and teachers was another concern raised by the association.
Second-shift arrangements could also create difficulties for schools. The association believes these issues should be considered before extending school hours.
Ali said developed countries may have schools with longer operating hours. However, their educational institutions often have better facilities and support systems.
He said similar arrangements are not widely available in local educational institutions. This difference makes direct comparisons between school systems difficult.
The association said the revised timings have created concerns for several groups. Parents, teachers, and school administrators are reportedly facing additional challenges.
The group also demanded equal timings for government and private institutions. It said students should follow similar schedules regardless of their educational institution.
The association believes uniform timings would create greater consistency across the education sector. It also said schools need schedules that can be implemented realistically.
Haider Ali and other senior officials described the new timetable as difficult to follow. They also questioned whether it would deliver the intended educational results.
