Students at Muhammad Nawaz Sharif University of Agriculture in Multan have initiated protests following the tragic death of Minahail, a 21-year-old female student who died in a motorcycle collision with a university bus. The accident occurred on Monday, prompting students to gather outside the university, expressing their anger and chanting slogans against the administration. In response to the escalating tensions, the university has announced a two-day closure in mourning for Minahail. A spokesperson for the university expressed deep sorrow over the loss, emphasizing that the decision was made out of respect for the deceased. The bus driver involved in the incident, Amir, has been suspended while investigations are ongoing. Students are demanding accountability and improved safety measures from the administration. The university's Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr. Ishtiaq, commented on the situation, suggesting that Minahail's motorcycle lost balance due to a study bag she was carrying. He characterized the incident as an accident, stating it was the first of its kind at the university. The driver was subsequently suspended and arrested. Minahail was a fifth-semester student in the Biochemistry Department. According to sources from Rescue 1122, she lost control of her motorcycle while approaching the bus and was unfortunately run over, dying at the scene. The local police confirmed that Minahail's father opted not to file a complaint, although they indicated that a formal application would prompt an investigation. The university spokesperson, Riaz Hiraj, mentioned that CCTV footage of the accident has been reviewed by Minahail's parents, who reportedly accepted that the bus driver was not at fault. Hiraj also noted that Minahail had previously been involved in a separate accident on the same motorcycle just over a month ago, resulting in severe injuries. The campus has remained somber since the incident, with the community mourning the loss of a fellow student.
