Pakistan’s 16-year-old Affan Salman has achieved a remarkable milestone by winning the World Youth Scrabble Championship in Sri Lanka. This victory marks Pakistan’s fifth win in the championship, making it the first country to achieve this feat. Salman excelled in the competition, winning 19 out of 23 games with a record of 20-4 and a spread of +1793.
The championship, featuring 138 players from around the world, saw other Pakistani players also perform exceptionally well. Bilal Ashar finished 6th, Ibrahim Mansoor 8th, and Aehzam Ahmed secured a top 10 spot. Ashar also won the under-14 title.

Suyash Manchali from India came in second with a record of 17-7 and a spread of +2364. The event underscored Pakistan’s dominance in Scrabble, with the country winning the team trophy for having the highest number of players in the top ten.
Additionally, Zayan Zaman won the trophy for the highest single move score, and Waseem Khatri of Pakistan won the side tournament for adults. This achievement follows Affan’s brother, Ali Salman, who won the World Youth title in 2022, marking a historic moment with two brothers winning the championship.
