Israel carries out a large-scale operation in the West Bank

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) recently carried out one of its largest counterterror operations in the West Bank, targeting militant activities in Jenin, Tulkarem, and nearby areas. This operation, which involved the Israel Border Police, the Israel Security Agency (ISA), and hundreds of IDF troops with significant air support, was in response to an attempted suicide bombing in Tel Aviv on August 18.

In Jenin, an airstrike by the Israel Air Force (IAF) resulted in the deaths of three armed Palestinians. The operation also led to the killing of two additional Palestinians, the arrest of several suspects, and the confiscation of military equipment, weapons, and ammunition. The Red Crescent confirmed that 10 Palestinians were killed and 15 others injured during the operation, with reports indicating that the IDF also conducted activities at Ibn Sina Hospital.

Earlier in Tulkarem, the IDF killed five terrorists in a drone strike on a terror operations room in the Nur al-Shams refugee camp, including one terrorist recently released in a November 2023 hostage exchange. During a 14-hour operation in Tulkarem in late August, the IDF eliminated three more terrorists, destroyed explosive laboratories, and demolished the apartment of a wanted individual while arresting another suspect. The IDF also neutralized explosives planted along the roadside during this operation. The IDF stressed that these operations are part of ongoing efforts to dismantle terror networks and prevent future attacks on Israeli civilians and security forces.
