WhatsApp introduces a favorite chats feature in its latest update

WhatsApp has started rolling out a much-anticipated feature that allows users to mark specific contacts and groups as favorites, following a recent update to its iOS version. The Meta-owned messaging app announced the launch of this feature with the release of WhatsApp for iOS version 24.16.79 on the App Store.

This new feature, which was first teased earlier this year, lets users prioritize their most important chats by adding them to a favorites list. These favorites will then be prominently displayed at the top of the calls tab, providing quicker access and acting as a filter for the chat list. To use the feature, users can go to the app’s settings and find the new favorites section, where they can manage their list by rearranging, adding, or removing contacts and groups.

Alongside the favorites feature, the update also brings an improved calling user interface (UI). The updated controls are designed to be more intuitive, offering a better user experience by making calling features easier to access and more reliable. WhatsApp mentioned that while the update is already being rolled out, the feature will gradually become available to all users over the coming weeks.
