Turkey permits visa-free entry for this Muslim country

ANKARA – Türkiye has announced a new visa policy allowing visa-free entry for certain Iraqi nationals, a positive step aimed at enhancing bilateral relations. Starting September 1, the visa exemption will apply to Iraqi citizens under 15 and those over 50. This decision, made during the fourth session of the Türkiye-Iraq High-Level Security Mechanism, follows extensive discussions between the two countries, including President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s visit to Baghdad earlier this year.

The announcement was made by Türkiye’s Foreign Minister, Hakan Fidan, at a press conference with Iraq’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Fuad Hussein. Fidan described the visa exemption as a measure to strengthen ties between Türkiye and Iraq. The new policy is anticipated to facilitate increased cross-border travel, benefiting family reunions and business engagements. It also aims to enhance people-to-people contact between the two nations.
