The Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan has issued a cautionary alert to students, parents, and higher education institutions regarding admissions to two-year BA, BSc, MA, and MSc degree programs. These programs were phased out by HEC, with extended deadlines up to the academic years 2019 and June 30, 2022, respectively.
Despite the phased elimination of these programs, certain higher education institutions continued to admit students into them after the specified deadlines. As a consequence, HEC has emphasized that degrees obtained from these programs will not be recognized or attested by HEC.

Under its Ordinance, HEC possesses the authority to establish conditions for the establishment and operation of higher education institutions, including those not affiliated with the state educational system. It is also tasked with formulating policies, setting standards, and determining priorities across various domains to enhance the quality of education in Pakistan.
