Saba Azad, who is currently in a relationship with Bollywood star Hrithik Roshan, recently took to her social media to share some concerns. The actor and voiceover artist, known for lending her voice to several advertisements, disclosed through a series of Instagram Stories that she had not received any voiceover opportunities for years due to her relationship with Hrithik.
In her Instagram Stories, Saba posted a picture of herself in a recording studio, expressing her relief at finally being back to doing voiceovers after almost two and a half years. She recalled a time when she used to do six to seven voiceovers a month. “So, imagine my confusion when two and a half years ago out of the blue, I went from doing six to eight voiceovers a month to none,” she wrote. Saba emphasized that she had never indicated she was leaving the profession, nor had she altered her session fees or shown any disinterest. “Nothing was different from my end, so what changed? I was entirely clueless.”

Saba revealed that she only discovered the reason behind the lack of work a month ago when she met with a director she regularly collaborated with. When she inquired about the sudden halt in opportunities, the director, described as “super progressive and chill,” told her he assumed she wouldn’t be interested in voiceover work because of her relationship with Hrithik. Without explicitly naming Hrithik, Saba noted the director implied that her relationship meant she wouldn’t need to work. She expressed her shock, stating it was the “last thing” she expected to hear.
Saba continued her candid revelation, criticizing the archaic assumption that a woman in a relationship with a successful partner no longer needs to work. “Are we really still living in the dark ages where we assume a woman in a relationship with a successful partner no longer has to put food on her own table? Or pay her rent and bills? Or take pride in her work and take care of herself and her family?” she questioned. Saba condemned this mindset as one-dimensional, patriarchal, and regressive.
She concluded with a strong message for those sharing the same troubling mindset, asserting that independent individuals in a relationship do not give up their identities or careers. “Losing a whole career because of someone else’s presumptuous ignorance really hurts. So again, no I haven’t quit, all ye makers of ads – I still do voiceovers. So please for the love of God undo your assumptions and let’s get recording already!”
Hrithik and Saba first sparked relationship rumors in January 2022 when they were seen holding hands after stepping out of a café. They made their first public red-carpet appearance together at Karan Johar’s 50th birthday celebration in May earlier this year.
