The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has dismissed unfounded allegations against Justice Babar Sattar, refuting claims of holding dual citizenship. In an official statement, the IHC clarified that Chief Justice, at the time of Justice Sattar’s appointment, was aware of his green card status.

The statement emphasized that Justice Sattar’s children acquired Pakistani citizenship after his appointment, and his mother has been operating a school in Pakistan since 1992. It asserted that Justice Sattar solely holds Pakistani citizenship.

Moreover, the court addressed a smear campaign circulating on social media, including the dissemination of Justice Sattar’s personal details and travel documents of his family members.

Highlighting Justice Sattar’s educational background, the statement mentioned his law degree from Oxford University and further studies at Harvard Law School. It explained that he obtained permanent US residency due to his exceptional qualifications but relinquished it upon returning to Pakistan in 2005.

Notably, President Arif Alvi approved Justice Sattar’s appointment as an IHC judge on December 28, 2020, along with Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri.
